Pictures of people, friends, and family.

Lunch break by Long Creek – The Falls on Long Creek are a popular destination, so I normally stop a couple of hundred yards or so further downstream to keep away from people. Two-minute read, +2

Gary at the Devil’s Den East (Upper Pilot) cairn – I’m just about to take the Devil’s Den East (Upper Pilot) Trail over to Rock Spring Trail, and head down to Long Creek and The Falls. Plus some notes on yesterday’s hike and and encounter with some deer. Two-minute read

Gary at the Pole (Pete) Hollow cairn, Hercules Glades Wilderness.

Hike over – back at the Tower Trailhead.

Lazing in my hammock – I’m having a lazy day. And why not? Until the bugs and weeds die back a bit I’m quite happy to lay here and enjoy some peace and quiet.

Gary and the Pole Hollow Cairn – Time for the obligatory selfie at the cairn. I prefer this black and white version. +1

Monitored. Today I had a stress echocardiogram and was fitted with a wireless Holter monitor.

This would have been a great weekend to get away into the woods. The temperatures are in the low eighties, and the rain has cleared out for a while. Instead, I decided to do some chores at home. One-minute read, +1

Diocesan Staff.

Day Four – End of hike selfie – All in all, a brilliant trip, with lots of journaling, swimming and relaxing watching the lake. You can’t beat that. One-minute read

Day Three – Feet up, enjoying the Campfire. +1

Fun and frolics at the lake – The lake was warm, almost bath temperature. I didn’t bother to count how many times I took a dip. It was a lot. Slideshow: +5

Journaling – I did a lot of thinking and scribbling. Unfortunately, I came away with a lot more questions than answers. 2

Enjoying the view – between interludes of journaling and swimming. I even completed some camp chores.

Day Three – Morning coffee

Day Two Campfire.

Ginger disappearing around a corner on the Pilot (Tower) Trail

Gary and Ginger at the Pole Hollow Cairn — Ginger is never one to miss the chance to ham things up. There are several outtakes.

Gary and Ginger at the Pole Hollow Cairn – I know how to treat Ginger to a good time, I made sure she had plenty of exercise, time to relax, and her own room with a forest view. 2 2

Ready for the trail – Don’t come to me for outdoor fashion guidance. I hike to my own tune, and I like mixing my metaphors!

Lunch break, and I’m showing a bit too much thigh – I had a choice of routes to take today. The short route takes the North Fork Loop east back to the Ozark Trail, where I could get back to the trailhead. The longer route goes south, and into the Devil’s Backbone Wilderness, and returns to Highway CC via the McGarr Ridge Trail. One-minute read

Family Day – Spent with Carol & Jim to celebrate Lanie’s Graduation. Katie was also with us but unfortunately, she left before we decided to take a picture.

Behind the lens – I thought I’d grab a quick selfie in the bedroom mirror.

Whites Creek Trail completed – now just to hike the short spur trail back to the parking lot.
