Gary, ready to get moving again – On the Whites Creek Trail, Irish Wilderness. When it comes to backpacking fashion, I lead where others dare not follow 🙂

Lunch Break on Whites Creek Trail – Well, it was more of a snack than lunch. I didn’t want to spend time heating some food, so I made do with a tuna sachet.

The end of the hike – Day hike with Katie and Lanie. I took them to my favorite spot in Piney Creek Wilderness. It was an easy 5.5 mile hike with 570ft of elevation, and a nice long lunch stop by the lake.

Tidying away – After one thousand miles of driving, two nights away, and three live-streamed services, I get a chance to tidy away the AV equipment. It’s been a busy Holy Week. Two-minute read

Gary and the tower at the Pineview Trailhead – Trip over, 14.5 miles hiked, 1,300 ft. climbed, and some downtime by the lake. Just what the Dr. ordered. Now for more of what the Dr. ordered. My COVID-19 vaccination. +1, and three maps

I’ve been here before – This is where the trail down to Siloam Spring joins the farm road. I didn’t have anyone to take my picture this time, and the lack of leaves to block the sun is making me squinty. Well, that’s my excuse. +1

Gary on the hike back – All I really need to say about the hike out is that it rained. A lot. +2

Pole Hollow Cairn (it’s behind me) – The weather seems to be doing a better job of keeping me off the trails in 2021 than COVID-19 did in 2020. Two-minute read

New work profile picture – It’s time for a new profile picture for work — the old one was taken in 2011, ten years ago. How did that happen?

Snowy Feat – I just couldn’t resist giving it a try. Despite it being around 13°F (-10°C) it wasn’t too cold. I ended up spending around 20 minutes outside clearing the snow off the front deck and path.

Hike over, back at the trailhead – That’s my hike over, and it’s just before 4:15 p.m. Not bad, and still daylight. I should be home by 5:45 p.m. I completed today’s hike of six-plus miles in a little over three hours. I’ll take that.

Back at the Pole Hollow Cairn – It was too dark on the hike out Friday night for my obligatory Pole Hollow Cairn selfie, so I decided to slip one in on my return hike. +1
