Lakes and Creeks

Lakes, creeks, rivers, ponds, streams. Just about anything wet that isn’t the sea.

Clouds reflected in Pomme de Terre Lake, Missouri USA

Fishing on Pomme de Terre Lake – Working for yourself has its disadvantages and advantages. Seven day weeks and long hours are a couple of the disadvantages. One of the advantages is that when a friend asks if I want to go fishing, with a bit of re-arranging, I can ‘Hang spring cleaning’ and be free to go. One-minute read, 9 pictures

An Evening Fishing on Stockton Lake –

Sailing on Stockton Lake, Missouri – John was kind enough to invite me sailing again. Video: 2 minutes & 10 pictures

Sailing with John on Stockton Lake – John invited me to join him for his first sail of the season. The end of June sounds a bit late for getting in the first sail, but John said that the horrendously wet and miserable weather we’ve been having this year had got in the way. 13 pictures

You can read about this afternoon’s hike here.

One of my favorite pictures from this afternoon’s hike.

Cairn – St. Nectan’s Glen, Cornwall — The River Trevillet and particularly the area near the falls is chock-a-block with dozens of little stone cairns, just like this one.

Spent the day with cap’n John getting the boat ready for some real sailing – he has a mainsail. Unfortunately, the ‘iron Topsail’ is currently broken, and beyond my knowledge to repair.

A picture from last weekend’s backpacking trip. We were checking out a stock pond to see if it might provide drinking water. The pond was not only quite large, but also surrounded by cattails which had started to break apart and seed.
