Profile Picture of Ginger Allman - June 2013

We’d spent the afternoon at a friends daughter’s wedding where I’d been helping out as an assistant photographer. When we got home Ginger decided we should take advantage of the ‘golden hour’ light and get a new profile picture.

Sailing with John on Stockton Lake -When my friend John said he wanted a sailing buddy to help him out on his first day sail in a keelboat without an instructor I jumped at the chance. Video: 1 minute. Five-minute read and 15 pictures

Gary and Ginger — Photo Film Strip. This is a series of pictures we took in my car during Ginger’s first visit to the UK in June 2008.

Today is Pentecost (Whitsunday back in the UK) and the last day of three services on a Sunday at Church until the fall. Yay for Sunday lie-ins to come! 2 10

Christ Episcopal Church EFM Retreat 2013

EFM Retreat – I’ve now finished my third year of EfM – Education for Ministry. Ministry in this context refers to service, not as many of my UK friends and family thought, ordination. Two-minute read, 2 pictures

Lanie’s Middle School Graduation – Today marked yet another end of an era; Lanie’s last day at middle school. 8 pictures

Tonight was Lanie’s last middle school orchestra concert. How time flies. This evening she received recognition for her playing, and a medal for her three years’ attendance. 14 pictures

“Wet snow likely on the higher Ozark Plateau tonight. Temperatures will be near freezing tonight. An additional one inch of slushy wet snow accumulations may be possible tonight on the plateau. Elsewhere, scattered rain showers tonight with some isolated flooding possible over the Eastern Ozarks.” NOAA.

The brief was fairly straightforward. Take an existing drawing of a map, colorize it and add more map labels. The challenges were firstly, that the map was already colored, and secondly the elements of the drawing would have to be moved to make space for the additional labels.

I spent Saturday working on colorizing a book and website illustration, Sunday I was scheduled to usher at church. So, there was no chance to get out and hike or backpack this weekend.

Old man’s beard on the trees at the edge of the bluff

Every so often the knot under the sole between my toes breaks off. When it does I have to stop and tie a new one.

Ginger spotted this picture which worked very well. We probably should’ve put more water in the Platy.

A picture from last weekend’s backpacking trip. We were checking out a stock pond to see if it might provide drinking water. The pond was not only quite large, but also surrounded by cattails which had started to break apart and seed.

We spent a long weekend backpacking in Hercules Glades. The highlight being an afternoon resting and enjoying the spring sunshine on top of a 260 ft. bluff overlooking Beaver Creek. Journal: 1 29

I’ll be writing more in a few days. For now, we camped at the top of this 260ft. bluff last night. It took a bit of bush-whacking to get there but it was worth it. | Read about our trip

Pancakes For Tennis Shoes.

I know the weather in the Ozarks is variable, but…

I caught myself using the dreadful American pronunciation of the word herb tonight – ‘erb.

A couple of my favorite pictures from today. +1

Today, for the first time in what feels like quite a while I wasn’t scheduled to be an usher at church.

Something which should never happen, happened. Sorry about that. If you try again, maybe it will work.

Arrrgh! Or another reason to hate software … I could go on and on, but I’d probably burst a blood vessel and have a stroke. Instead I’ll go off and search the Internets for soothing images of sunsets and kittens.

It’s that time of year again, it seems Lanie gets older every year! Whatever happened to the seven year old who was here when I first visited the US?

This time last year we were backpacking with Lanie at Piney Creek Wilderness and doing other exciting things!
