Out of office

Pictures taken when I’m working away from home, on a trip, or on a visit.

It is going to be a long day today. I left at nine and plan to be at St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church by midday. Then we have four hours to get everything ready for the four pm Celebration of Absalom Jones service. After that, break everything down and drive three hours home.

Waiting for my meeting to start – This is what happens when you decide to take (a well-earned) impromptu comp day off without thoroughly checking your calendar. 2

A quick trip down to Branson – I was visiting Branson to record a video interview at Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church, and this is the rental vehicle I ended up with. 3

The light of the world – Jesus said, “I am the light of the world; whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” — John 8:12

Stained glass window in the Chapel of The Good Shepherd – This stained glass window is in the Chapel of The Good Shepherd, Christ Episcopal Church. We’ll forego the debate on the full meaning of the sacrificial lamb.

Altar and Stained Glass – This morning I had a meeting at Christ Church. When it was over I went to find pictures to accompany evening prayers. The altar was bathed in a pool of light where the cleaner had turned on the altar spotlights and left the rest of the lights off. It made for a picture I couldn’t resist. 1

Dove – I was at St. Philip’s in Joplin for a training session; I was on the receiving end for a change. When we broke for lunch I popped into the church to hunt out some images I could use for our daily evening prayers. 1 2

The Baptism of Persephone – I’ve often said that working for the Church I am privileged to be present at key moments in people’s lives. Unexpectedly that happened at this weekend’s Easter Vigil service. 2 2

Video Project – Stepping out of my comfort zone, I’ve been working on a video for work. With twelve days to complete the project, I recorded 19 to camera pieces in eight locations. Video: 15 minutes & +2

St. Johns – Stained Glass Window – I was at St. John’s for the 8:00 a.m. Eucharist this morning.

On the 31st Floor. Austin, Texas – My home for the past 10 days. It’s a bit of a change from hammock camping in the wilderness.

Communications Director with the WEMO Youth — Just to prove that the diocesan Communications Director does venture out from behind his keyboard and camera once in a while. Here I am with the WEMO Youth and WEMO Jesus.

Home from Home – It’s been a busy few weeks. Two-minute read, 4 pictures
