Thornfield

No smoke without fire — I was some miles away the smoke was thick at the farm, and ash was falling from the sky. This was from a prescribed burn, not a wildfire.

A change of plan — Here I am enjoying the sunset and beer on the deck at the cottage.

Lanie — Just Lanie being herself. Walk by the creek.

Early evening on an Ozarks farm road — It’s all looking very lush and green. Nowadays this road has a lot more traffic than it used to. One-minute read.

Last of the sun — The last of the sun was catching the trees behind the house.

Four deer — They were about 100 yards away and very interested in what we were doing, which just happened to be, watching them.

Another Hat — I bought myself something with a large brim that was also lightweight and airy for the summer.

Cats need glasses — and Morty agrees (sort of). Anything for a fluffy lap to sit on. +1

Ginger & Morty — Morty has a particularly strong headbutt.

Cottage Still Life – This photo started life as a joke picture for the girls, and then it took on a life of its own requiring a second ‘shoot’ just to put right a few of the details.

Snow in the yard and on the field – We woke Saturday morning to a light dusting of snow which had mostly melted by the evening.

Cottage in the snow – For the past couple of months Ginger has been working with her parents on a remodeling project, converting the one room with ensuite ‘Little House’ into a Writers/Get Away Cottage. It now has a living room/kitchenette, bedroom, HVAC and a wraparound deck out back. +1

Family Day – Spent with Carol & Jim to celebrate Lanie’s Graduation. Katie was also with us but unfortunately, she left before we decided to take a picture.

‘The Field’ – I asked Ginger what this field on her parent’s farm was called. Her answer? “Dunno, ‘The field?'”

A little bit of black and white workshop photography. I love visiting Jim’s workshop, there’s always some new project going on and lots of things to see. 3 pictures

The prints have been delivered (July 2017) and I can share the color versions of the pictures I took of Jim’s pickup. 8 pictures

Weekend with Ginger’s Parents – Ginger’s parents have been asking us to come down and visit for ages. For some reason things always seemed to be getting in the way and our weekends haven’t been clear. Two-minute read, 12 pictures

Staying with Jim and carol for a couple of days, I liked the look of the late afternoon sun on the grass in the field next to the workshop.

An afternoon with Carol and Jim (365:331) – Today we collected Lanie from her Grandparents. Katie came too, the price I had to pay was a white knuckle ride in the co-pilot’s seat while Katie drove us through country roads. 4 pictures

Today we drove down to see Carol & Jim (365:323). After dinner we sat around chatting. 6

Gary and Lanie down by the creek (365:295) – Today we relaxed at Ginger’s parents. I relaxed so much I spent a good part of the afternoon fast asleep sitting on the porch of the guest house. 5 pictures

Family cookout (365:294) – Tonight we’re camping at Ginger’s parents.
