Words and pictures featuring Missouri

Orange cat and spot — Of course a visit to see Katie also means a chance to see Dick, our grandcat in his native environment and with a nice midcentury modern style rug too.

Top of the Power and Light Building. I love Art Deco architecture.

The Kauffman Center from the 32nd floor terrace, Kansas City Power and Light Building — We were at the Kauffman Center last night for Chris Thile with the Kansas City Symphony.

View to the west from the 32nd floor terrace, Kansas City Power and Light Building — Featuring the Diocesan office and Grace & Holy Trinity Cathedral, which can be seen just past the convention center. I waved at my ex-colleagues, but I don’t think they saw me.

Empty Chair — I’d planned on taking a picture of Ginger sitting enjoying the view, which would have been a great silhouette. But Ginger got up as I grabbed my phone.

Ginger’s Flowers— Ginger loves to sit here in the sun in the winter. I liked the light on flowers and thought I’d try to capture it. 2

Furnace Closet refurb complete — No more green paint, and the many years of scratches, scrapes and various holes drilled in the walls have been patched. 2

What hole? Four days later, and it’s all fixed. I also patched the rest of the walls, the ceiling, and repainted the lot. 2

Dyson battery & charger holder — It must be summer. Time for some work around the house. It’s too hot and buggy to be outside. 3

That escalated quickly — This started out as a three-hour job. I’ll be lucky if I finish it in under a week.

Finally finished — Two years later, I patched and repainted the wall. 1

Table Rock Lake was the highest I’ve seen it — At 928.5 ft. It was 18 ft higher than when I was last here in September 2024.

Making a cup of tea.

Camped by Table Rock Lake at Piney Creek Wilderness — Camped by Table Rock Lake at Piney Creek Wilderness. The lake was a lot nearer to my campsite than usual.

Piney Creek Wilderness, Table Rock Lake. Looking west towards Buck Hollow and Piney Creek. I took a short hike further east along the lakeshore to find a spot where I could see out across the lake.

Packing for four days by the lake — I’m off to spend four days sitting watching the Lake at my favorite Piney Creek Wilderness camping spot.

Sunday check, clean, and oil — My Sig P938 got very wet while backpacking in the rain at Hercules Glades a while back. Today, I decided to give it a good cleaning and thorough inspection. 1

Camped on ‘Ant Hill’ — I’ve camped on ‘Ant Hill’ before, but this time, I had to shift to a nearby location to avoid a dicey-looking dead tree.
