Daily Life

So, I can spell pneumatic, but I can’t get ‘hose’ right (hoze). My only excuse has to be that I was subconsciously trying to Webster-ize it.

Small welded metal structure featuring berries, leaves, vines and a brass goblet.

A Toast to Art. Jim and Carol came by this afternoon on one of their regular trips to Springfield. He brought his latest piece for me to photograph.

Breakfast meal - steak, mushrooms, vegitables topped off with an egg, sunny side up.

Diet – steak, egg and veggies for breakfast – I’ve been spending far too much time at my desk and not enough time out and about. The lack of exercise has taken it toll, and it’s time to start doing something; reduce my weight and get more exercise.

Out at 7:20am on the high school run for the first time in eighteen months. Only another two years or so to go! 🙂

I missed the memo. I lost my photo-mojo and didn’t notice. Two-minute read

Sailing on Stockton Lake - www.ozarkswalkabout.com

I really like this series of pictures of John I took while we out sailing yesterday. 3 pictures

I’ve always liked the Ozarks Walkabout logo. Recently we updated the website design so some slight reworking on the logo font was needed. This is the result.

Jim must have either left this behind, or snuck it into my ‘workshop’ a couple of weeks ago when he and Carol came down to install the Bottle Tree.

It’s not unheard of to find things tucked away in odd places after they’ve visited.

Nice and simple logo. I wanted to stick with the red of the Davis-Allman logo because it is easy to spot in a pack of business cards. Red is not supposed to be a strong business color, but sometimes it pays to stand out from the crowd. The foot idea is overused but something was needed quickly and it works. It’s very recognizable and memorable. What more can you want for your branding?

Remember cap’n John? Well, he’s gone and done it now and bought himself a twenty-seven-foot sailboat. I went with him to Stockton to take a look. Pretty cool she is too. 19 pictures

Ginger’s New Blue Bottle Tree – This picture is one that has to be put in the ‘It seemed like a good idea at the time’ category. It took a huge amount of effort to create and it just doesn’t work. 1   2

Photograph of Lanie, Gary and Ginger Allman sitting in the backyard lit by the orange glow of a chiminea

We both have had long days at the computer recently, so the idea of sitting out in the back yard burning off a few of our deadfall limbs and twigs was a welcome diversion.

Profile Picture of Ginger Allman - June 2013

We’d spent the afternoon at a friends daughter’s wedding where I’d been helping out as an assistant photographer. When we got home Ginger decided we should take advantage of the ‘golden hour’ light and get a new profile picture.

Lanie’s Middle School Graduation – Today marked yet another end of an era; Lanie’s last day at middle school. 8 pictures

Tonight was Lanie’s last middle school orchestra concert. How time flies. This evening she received recognition for her playing, and a medal for her three years’ attendance. 14 pictures

“Wet snow likely on the higher Ozark Plateau tonight. Temperatures will be near freezing tonight. An additional one inch of slushy wet snow accumulations may be possible tonight on the plateau. Elsewhere, scattered rain showers tonight with some isolated flooding possible over the Eastern Ozarks.” NOAA.

The brief was fairly straightforward. Take an existing drawing of a map, colorize it and add more map labels. The challenges were firstly, that the map was already colored, and secondly the elements of the drawing would have to be moved to make space for the additional labels.

I know the weather in the Ozarks is variable, but…

I caught myself using the dreadful American pronunciation of the word herb tonight – ‘erb.

Something which should never happen, happened. Sorry about that. If you try again, maybe it will work.

Arrrgh! Or another reason to hate software … I could go on and on, but I’d probably burst a blood vessel and have a stroke. Instead I’ll go off and search the Internets for soothing images of sunsets and kittens.

It’s that time of year again, it seems Lanie gets older every year! Whatever happened to the seven year old who was here when I first visited the US?

This time last year we were backpacking with Lanie at Piney Creek Wilderness and doing other exciting things!

Jim’s been experimenting with a more abstract style.
