The view over Portsmouth from Portsdown hill, with the English channel, Solent and Isle of Wight in the background.

Mirror, Mirror (365: 141) – across the arcade and backed into an alcove for a better angle and something to lean against. I was just about to leave when I realised I was sandwiched between two mirrors. 3

Waiting.

I don’t remember how I found this, but ten years after I left Futuremedia it was good of Andy to mention me in his comment on this blog post. And the page is still there…

Drive-by Shot – I drive past this building most days, and I love the way the afternoon light catches it, but I have never had a reason to stop and try and photograph it.

Calm Centre (365: 135) – Many years ago I visited this spot at a time when I needed to make an important decision. At that time, I also needed a place and memory to act as a calm reference point to carry with me and help in the years to come. 3 | 2

Bad hair day (365: 134) — Up very late last night (shall we just say it was light when I went to bed), so not a lot of sleep, though I grabbed a few ZZZs in the garden this afternoon.

Painting by Peter Ross — I bought a load of these pictures in the 70s for about £5 each. Acrylic on hardboard.

Walking Home (365: 133) — This may be a strange concept to my American contacts, but I walk to the shops (1,6 miles) and home again. “I haven’t got much to get” turned into 23.5 Lbs (I checked) of excess baggage in my rucksack.

Flickr Light (365: 132) — Until I can find a replacement bulb for my lamp it looks like my monitors are going to be the best source of light around here.

Curry Night (365: 131).

05:57 BST – Good Morning! (365: 130) — Isn’t that a frightening sight to wake up to? It gets my daily picture out of the way nice and early.

Just about Awake (365: 129).

Dinner (365: 128) — 60 grammes of brown rice a day, with 100 grammes of chicken or salmon. My main meal during the week.

Waiting for inspiration (365: 127). I had a late night, and I’m tired. I forgot my 365 days picture but luckily remembered before it got too dark.

Garden wall — This is a Virginia creeper; the leaves turn all shades of red in the autumn. The picture illustrates how tall the fence is around the garden.

Lilies — The lilies are flowering in the pond. I can’t get close enough to take a decent picture of them. 2

Shaving (365: 126).

Memories of India (365: 125) — I haven’t visited India for a couple of years, so it’ll have changed a lot. I just love the country and people; I’d go back tomorrow given the chance.

Grasp — Or should that be ‘Gr-arse-p’? Letting some of my dark side show.

Pearls of Wisdom (365: 124) — from the fridge. All too true.

At the top of the stairs (365: 123) — If I am being very good, twice a day I climb the stairs of the seven-story building opposite my office.

Buildings 28 & 29 — What wonderful names they’ve got at the university! My office is even better, 35A! Aka David Kiddle.

Nightingale Building — The cleverly named building for the School of Nursing. At least it’s not a number.
