Out of office

Pictures taken when I’m working away from home, on a trip, or on a visit.

Film noir style photograph of Storybook Barn Rogersville, Missouri at dusk

Late Arrivals – This photograph is begging to have its story told. Which is appropriate given the name of the venue – Storybook Barn. I wonder what the story might be?

Walking back to the office from the Power & Light Stage I couldn’t stop myself taking this picture. Kansas City Power & Light District. E 13th.

UK friends and family seeing this might begin to get an idea of why I don’t like driving in the UK. 100 miles of driving and this is about as busy as it gets. After all the upgrades I’ve had recently, this vehicle was about as basic as they get. It didn’t even have a cruise control.

Riverside Walk – Portland Oregon – Having settled in at the hotel I decided to go for an afternoon walk, and headed off towards the river. One-minute read, 8 pictures

Hotel Room, Hotel Eastlund, Portland Oregon – The hotel has been remodeled recently and they’ve worked hard to provide a consistent theme throughout. It’s modern, clean and comfy, with a slight twist in the decor … +4

Monster School Bus – I’m guessing (and hoping) that this bus has something to do with the St. Patrick’s Day parade due to take place in Lexington later in the day. 3 pictures

Photograph of The new flame of the Easter Vigil, used to light the candles before the Easter Vigil service at Christ Episcopal Church, Springfield, MIssouri. Easter 2014.

The new flame of the Easter Vigil — I was looking for a cover picture for the April issue of Spirit. I took this photograph a year ago, and it’s been residing in my archives ever since. My search for something relevant and cover-worthy eventually uncovered it.

The 125th Annual Convention of The Diocese of West Missouri – This was my first annual convention as Director of Communications with the diocese. One-minute read, 6 pictures

Blue Sky reflected in the windows of a blue building framed by a blue sky

Blue – I spotted this picture while waiting for a train. I (correctly) judged I’d have just enough time to run over and get the picture before the train arrived.

Stairwell – Oceanographic Institute.

Building 29 — I saw this picture while stretching my legs this afternoon, the sun was just going down, tracking up the side of the building.

EEE (Yes, that is the official designation of this building…)

Hartley Library, University of Southampton.

Graduation Week 2007 – I was not invited to my son’s graduation. I volunteered to help with Graduation at work. I thought it would distract me from thinking about my son’s graduation. It didn’t.

Lunch at the ‘Gate’ (365: 138) — Invited for a lunch time meeting I picked a Pub. Note this is a very rare thing. I had a drink; I’m normally strictly water until the evening

At the top of the stairs (365: 123) — If I am being very good, twice a day I climb the stairs of the seven-story building opposite my office.

Buildings 28 & 29 — What wonderful names they’ve got at the university! My office is even better, 35A! Aka David Kiddle.
