Every so often the knot under the sole between my toes breaks off. When it does I have to stop and tie a new one.

Ginger spotted this picture which worked very well. We probably should’ve put more water in the Platy.

A picture from last weekend’s backpacking trip. We were checking out a stock pond to see if it might provide drinking water. The pond was not only quite large, but also surrounded by cattails which had started to break apart and seed.

We spent a long weekend backpacking in Hercules Glades. The highlight being an afternoon resting and enjoying the spring sunshine on top of a 260 ft. bluff overlooking Beaver Creek. Journal: 1 29

I’ll be writing more in a few days. For now, we camped at the top of this 260ft. bluff last night. It took a bit of bush-whacking to get there but it was worth it. | Read about our trip

I know the weather in the Ozarks is variable, but…

It was when we saw this view that we realized how far up the mountain we’d driven last night – Spring Break 2013 – Day 2 – The view from Cheaha Mountain State Park, Alabama. 3 pictures

Ginger and Lanie at Mammoth Spring, Arkansas — Spring Break 2013 – Day 1 Drive to Cheaha Mountain State Park, Alabama. No backpacking for us this Spring Break – we’ve got a family wedding in Florida to go to, which is going to involve lots of driving. If we’re lucky we’ll get a chance to do some hiking in Florida.

This afternoon we made the effort to leave our desks behind and hike what we call the ‘Hill Loop’ of the Busiek Silver Trail – 2.58 miles and 574 ft of Elevation. 4 pictures

Weekend with Ginger’s Parents – Ginger’s parents have been asking us to come down and visit for ages. For some reason things always seemed to be getting in the way and our weekends haven’t been clear. Two-minute read, 12 pictures

Staying with Jim and carol for a couple of days, I liked the look of the late afternoon sun on the grass in the field next to the workshop.

We hiked the Busiek Red and Yellow trials today – 5 miles and 596 ft. 18 pictures
