Photograph of a Hibiscus flower in Black and white

Hibiscus – Black and White — When I noticed the sunlight dappling the flower I decided to take the picture, no matter how twee hibiscus flower pictures are.

An afternoon being taught fly fishing on Lake Taneycomo. After several hours of practice – do I look like a fly fisherman yet? 6 pictures

I like this crop so much, I wish I’d taken this as a separate picture. However, the wider shots I took came out pretty well too. 3

Chandelier Through the Window — This is probably an unrepeatable picture, as very shortly the clear pane is going to be replaced with frosted glass.

Laine wouldn’t get in and pretend to drive – Lanie joined me for a short hike on the Yellow Trail at Busiek. We went off-trail a bit so she could see the old panel van. I wanted Lanie to get in and pretend to drive, but the lack of any sort of solid floor put her off the idea. 2 pictures

Lanie spotted this on the trail, and a fair bit of Googling hasn’t come up with a formal name for this, or an explanation of how it forms. Pretty cool though.

Black and White picture, with some of the leafy clutter removed. The roots of our two backyard trees occasionally break the surface. When they grow too high the mower trims off the top, producing these interesting patterns as they try to heal.

A carpet of full leaves in a painterly view of browns and yellows

A Carpet of Fall Leaves. I really like the full frame version of this image, but I love how this close-in crop brings out what I call a ‘painterly rendering’ from the camera. 2

UK friends and family seeing this might begin to get an idea of why I don’t like driving in the UK. 100 miles of driving and this is about as busy as it gets. After all the upgrades I’ve had recently, this vehicle was about as basic as they get. It didn’t even have a cruise control.

There’s something very serene about the view across the darkened church from the sacristy door. It made a nice change for me to be taking pictures in the church just for myself rather than for some official diocesan or church event.

Altar at Christ Episcopal Church Springfield, Missouri – I took some time out today to take a few pictures at Christ Church. 7 pictures

Branch of Brushy Creek off of the Pees Hollow Trail, Hercules Glades – This creek was mainly dry, but near where we camped there was some water. 3 pictures

Sunset on Truman Lake — A lucky shot just pointing the camera out of the window.

Three Fishing Lures

Clouds reflected in Pomme de Terre Lake, Missouri USA

Fishing on Pomme de Terre Lake – Working for yourself has its disadvantages and advantages. Seven day weeks and long hours are a couple of the disadvantages. One of the advantages is that when a friend asks if I want to go fishing, with a bit of re-arranging, I can ‘Hang spring cleaning’ and be free to go. One-minute read, 9 pictures

Sailing on Stockton Lake, Missouri – John was kind enough to invite me sailing again. Video: 2 minutes & 10 pictures
