At Home

Pictures taken in the places I’ve called ‘home’ over the years.

Gary testing the new backdrop stand — We’re going to be doing some studio shoots in the new year, to get things ready I’ve been working on making a backdrop stand and lighting stand. +1

Christmas 2010 – Getzger’s feather boa. 2

Kayak storage problem solved – Now we’ve got a place to keep the kayaks, we need to put away the camping gear. Then we will be able to get the van in the garage.

No doubt Getzger is looking for snakes (don’t tell him but we found one in here when we cleared the garage out). Here’s how the work progressed … One-minute read, 4 pictures

Today I made a start on the new shelves for the garage.

Another pile of wood means… The start of Stage III of the Garage Remodel. We have to replace the window and frame too.

My new shelves all finished. 3 pictures

Blue Kitty – Despite being a haughty madam I have to admit that from time to time she looks wonderful, and tonight under the lamp with the Christmas tree (blue of course) behind her it was a picture asking to be taken.

Honey-do List – This week I’ve been working on my ‘Honey-do’ list and managed to cross off four items: Fitted a new front door, replaced the broken light switch in the kitchen and replaced the light fitting in Alek’s room. This afternoon saw me working on the fourth project. One-minute read

Glued and screwed – and checking if the bench legs fit as planned – they did. 2 pictures

Getting Ready for Gluing.

Space is a bit tight – Here’s the bench laid out on the garage floor just so I can check it all fits. I’ve just got the legs for the benchtop to make now, and then it has all got to be assembled. The wall has to be painted before we can put it up too. Ginger is helping out by fixing the wall and painting it.

Building the workbench – The first thing I had to do was make a workbench so I could build the workbench. One-minute read, 2 pictures

Cleared up, ready to start – Here’s the garage with the west wall cleared ready for prepping and painting, and lots of room for me to be working in making the workbench.

Gary's stuff arrives from the UK

Goods and Chattels – Today has been a day of unpacking. After two and a half months of waiting, my stuff finally arrived. Twenty four boxes and one desk. Eleven of the boxes contained just books. The remainder held personal papers, clothes, my computer, CDs DVDs and my speakers. One-minute read, 2 pictures

Gary Allman and Ginger Davis enjoying a warm day in January 2009

A Taste of summer – January and the temperature is up in the seventies. After driving to St. Louis and back we got a chance to sit in the back yard.

Research – I ended up sitting on the sofa researching whisky (in the glass) and double-decker buses (on the Internet) while Ginger researched wedding dresses, whisky, and took her own picture for the day. One-minute read

Stored – Today we finally got round to putting my empty suitcases away in the shed. A simple job with a profound meaning.
