Isn’t that a frightening sight to wake up to? It gets my daily picture out of the way nice and early.

I had a late night, and I’m tired. I forgot my 365 days picture but luckily remembered before it got too dark. So, I took a rest and a moment to reflect on the sofa in the youngest’s room and then played with the camera for a while.

This is a Virginia creeper; the leaves turn all shades of red in the autumn. The picture illustrates how tall the fence is around the garden.

Lilies — The lilies are flowering in the pond. I can’t get close enough to take a decent picture of them. Copyright © 2007 Gary Allman, all rights reserved.

I haven’t visited India for a couple of years, so it’ll have changed a lot. I love the country and the people; I’d go back tomorrow given the chance.

(I’m still trying to find a lighting setup to replace my broken desk lamp. I can’t find a replacement tube, and it is becoming increasingly frustrating. This took 2 lamps and a 4’x4′ reflector, and the lighting still sucks. Unlike my desk lamp the ones I have now don’t have any reach or extensive adjustment.)

If I am being very good, twice a day I climb the stairs of the seven-story building opposite my office.

Once more I’ve arrived at the top without having a coronary.

I love books; just about every one of those shelves is double stacked. Fact, fiction, and illustrations. And I’ll reread some over and over.

The Riddle of the Sands – my travel book, which I can pick up from any page. I’ve read it so many times that it’s become an old friend. Garrison Keillor – oh, I love the sound of his voice, and I can hear it in my head as I read his prose. John Updyke, such observation and power. Iain Banks – Superb. Jonathan Raban’s “Old Glory” – “This Magnificent Book,” it says on the dust jacket – and that doesn’t do it justice; he paints with words quite literally. I could go on; I’ve hardly scratched the surface.

I’ve been on leave for a week, and I’m returning to work feeling absolutely wrecked. Oh well, that’s life, not to worry. Worse things happen at sea – well, l actually in the harbour. I’m willing to bet there aren’t many people who had to abandon ship in a marina 🙂

Taken sitting on the sofa bed in youngest’s room.

My hardest job right now is deciding which one of these 25 pictures to make my 365 Days picture.

Not that it got me down. But it is Monday, and it was raining. Bright sunshine now; I really ought to get out more.

I haven’t heard that track for years, an old (and she will be by now, though I’m sure I wouldn’t be popular for pointing it out) girlfriend used to listen to the Carpenters all the time and it sorta rubbed off on me, and yes, I do have one or two albums. That’s me definitely down in the credibility stakes.

Light switches are worse as you tend to be working over your head. The downstairs sockets were a nightmare as we have a solid concrete sub-floor, and all the wires have to go up the wall. I was going to say, well, that’s that job done, but I’ve just realised there should be a spur off here for the computer equipment. D’oh!

Now I know I just need someone to take the blasted photographs.

That’s it no more smiles or attempts at humour, normal service resumes tomorrow.

Chasing out for the electrics, I took a quick break for today’s picture.

Not quite as good as the similar shot on Day 90, but what a difference a month makes, two pics in a row and I’m smiling! Just don’t expect it every damn day 😉
