I was up very late last night (shall we just say it was light when I went to bed), so not a lot of sleep, though I grabbed a few ZZZs in the garden this afternoon. I’m off to bed right now, and that’s my excuse for a hasty photo and very bad hair.

It’s a painting of the Butt and Oyster at Pin Mill on the river Stour in Suffolk. It’s a scene I recognised from another drawing of the same place in one of the childhood books I first read when I was around 10 years old.

Painting by Peter Ross — I bought a load of these pictures in the 70s for about £5 each. Acrylic on hardboard. This one may have belonged to my parents.
  • Walking Home (365: 133)

Walking Home (365: 133). This may be a strange concept to my American contacts, but I walk to the shops (1,6 miles) and home again. “I haven’t got much to get” turned into 23.5 Lbs (I checked) of excess baggage in my rucksack. Copyright © 2007 Gary Allman, all rights reserved.

Isn’t that a frightening sight to wake up to? It gets my daily picture out of the way nice and early.

I had a late night, and I’m tired. I forgot my 365 days picture but luckily remembered before it got too dark. So, I took a rest and a moment to reflect on the sofa in the youngest’s room and then played with the camera for a while.

This is a Virginia creeper; the leaves turn all shades of red in the autumn. The picture illustrates how tall the fence is around the garden.

I haven’t visited India for a couple of years, so it’ll have changed a lot. I love the country and the people; I’d go back tomorrow given the chance.

(I’m still trying to find a lighting setup to replace my broken desk lamp. I can’t find a replacement tube, and it is becoming increasingly frustrating. This took 2 lamps and a 4’x4′ reflector, and the lighting still sucks. Unlike my desk lamp the ones I have now don’t have any reach or extensive adjustment.)

If I am being very good, twice a day I climb the stairs of the seven-story building opposite my office.

Once more I’ve arrived at the top without having a coronary.
