At Home

Pictures taken in the places I’ve called ‘home’ over the years.

Routine Cleaning – Cleaning and fixing things was not quite my plan for the day, but that is what I ended up doing. +3

Roomba Cleaning – The Roomba started to do the ‘circle dance’ again. I love the idea of the Roomba, and when it works it is great. However, the design sucks.

Ginger lent Tubby her phone and Tubby wore himself out trying to watch bird videos. It’s tough being a half blind, half deaf cat.

How many old cameras do I need? This is not a serious attempt at a picture, I was just pointing my camera at things in my office late one night.

I’ve got my new monitor stand and cable tidy. 3 pictures

Autonomous Standing Desk at 40" height.

I’ve been having a few health problems, and a standing desk is one of the things I’m trying to beat them. Two-minute read, 5 pictures

wind-blown snow on the ground with fall leaves

Last night it dropped to 3°F (-16°C) and we had a light dusting of snow. Needless to say, I had no inclination to go out taking pictures this morning. This afternoon, once the temperature had crept up above 10°, I ventured out for a few quick shots.

With single digit temps outside Tubby is quite content to snooze away the afternoon in the warm.

Sweet dreams Getzger. Goodbye Mr. Cat.

Getzger waiting for shower time – Mr. Cat has been giving a very good impression of settling onto the ‘final glide-path’ this past couple of days. It was good to see him show an interest in joining me for a shower.

Ceramic Fish – I must have had these ceramic fish for 12-15 years, they were a gift from my sister. I take a picture of them every now and then. They followed me across the Atlantic. A tiny bit of the UK seaside here in the Ozarks.

Black and White picture, with some of the leafy clutter removed. The roots of our two backyard trees occasionally break the surface. When they grow too high the mower trims off the top, producing these interesting patterns as they try to heal.

Our Sweet Gum Tree Still Has It’s Leaves – Which is a nuisance, as it is pointless raking up the leaves in the yard until all the trees are done shedding. 2 pictures

A carpet of full leaves in a painterly view of browns and yellows

A Carpet of Fall Leaves. I really like the full frame version of this image, but I love how this close-in crop brings out what I call a ‘painterly rendering’ from the camera. 2

Picture of a tre with bright yellow fall foliage

I would much rather be outside kicking through the leaves than sitting at my desk. Fall has finally arrived at the tree outside my office window.

Well I think that’s about as good as I’m going to get with a 135mm lens. The moon was too high in the sky to picture it against a background, so no helpful foreground features to give it scale. I have to say it doesn’t look any bigger or brighter to my eye.

My Homemade 'Faux Dori' Journal

My Homemade ‘Faux Dori’ Journal – This is my ‘Every Day Carry’ journal. I made it small enough to go everywhere with me. It fits in (most of) my pants’ pockets. 2   3

Monochrome image of a Swirly Fluorescent light bulb

I saw the swirly bulb and light fitting, and felt compelled to take this picture. There is no more to it than that. Is this a harbinger of a photo-mojo revival? Then my frivolous side wants to say: “don’t call me Swirly.”
